Banijay Entertainment names Patrick Holland to lead combined UK operations following $8 billion merger
The company will oversee approximately 40 creative labels and produce over 2,000 hours of content annually.
The merger between the Banijay Group and All3Media has officially concluded, resulting in the creation of a new entity named Banijay Entertainment. According to Variety, the transaction was valued at $8 billion and finalized last month. The consolidated company is headquartered in London and operates under a joint ownership structure where both the Banijay Group and RedBird IMI hold 50% stakes.
The executive leadership of the new entity includes Jeff Zucker from RedBird IMI as Chairman, Marco Bassetti as CEO, and Jane Turton, formerly the CEO of All3Media, as deputy CEO.
Leadership transition in the UK market
Patrick Holland has been confirmed as the executive chairman and CEO of Banijay U.K., the regional arm of the newly merged company. According to Hollywood Reporter, Holland will report directly to Marco Bassetti. His role involves overseeing the majority of the combined United Kingdom portfolio, which now includes approximately 40 creative labels.
Holland joined Banijay U.K. in May 2022 after a tenure at the BBC where he served as director for factual, arts and classical music and as channel controller for BBC Two since 2017. Prior to his time at Banijay, Holland held the position of Managing Director of Boundless, a production company owned by Fremantle, according to Deadline.
During his current tenure with Banijay U.K., Holland established the Banijay U.K. Growth fund in 2023. This initiative facilitated several acquisitions, including The Forge in 2023 and Garrison Drama in 2024.
Portfolio scope and production volume
The combined UK business is responsible for producing more than 2,000 hours of content every year. According to Hollywood Reporter, the portfolio spans a wide variety of platforms including major broadcasters and global streamers like Netflix and Prime Video.
Specific labels within the newly consolidated group include Studio Lambert, Initial, and Neal Street Productions, according to Deadline.
The production slate includes high-profile titles such as:
- Half Man (BBC/HBO)
- House of Guinness (Netflix)
- Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (Netflix)
- Last One Laughing (Prime Video)
- The Buccaneers
- SAS Rogue Heroes
- MasterChef
- Big Brother
- Would I Lie to You?
Upcoming projects for the group include All or Nothing, Beautiful Obsession, and Will You Marry Me? for Prime Video, as well as Reputation for the BBC.
Operational synergy and integration challenges
While the merger is complete, the operational integration of the two companies remains a point of observation for industry analysts. Deadline reports that there are private questions regarding how the different corporate cultures will mesh. Specifically, observers are watching to see if All3Media’s “hands-off, federal model” can be successfully integrated with Banijay’s more “collective approach.”
Marco Bassetti stated in Variety that having local experts lead regional portfolios was a strategic priority and expressed confidence in Holland’s ability to maintain growth. He noted the portfolio would benefit from the “injection of All3Media’s producers” (Variety).
Holland described the combination of talent as “truly inspiring” and stated he is eager to unlock the potential of the unified business (Deadline).
